About Mediation
Mediation helps people in conflict work out their differences privately, respectfully, safely, and affordably — with the guidance of trained, neutral mediators.
What We Do
Our mediators manage a structured process that encourages better communication, helps parties clarify and understand their positions, and supports them in creating their own agreements.
Who Are the Mediators?
Our mediators are community members trained and supervised under the Massachusetts Uniform Rules of Dispute Resolution. They complete required training, court-based practicums, and ongoing professional development. Divorce and elder mediators receive advanced training in their specialties.
Benefits of Mediation
Flexible, collaborative, and focused on solutions that work for you.
Mediation is Flexible
Any issue the parties bring to the table — needs, concerns, or interpersonal matters — can be addressed.
Participants Control the Outcome
You create the agreement — unlike court or arbitration, where a judge or arbitrator decides for you.
Forward-Looking
Focuses on resolving current issues and preventing future problems, rather than assigning blame.
Preserves Relationships
Builds a framework for future interactions based on mutual interests rather than conflict.
Confidential
Discussions are private, allowing for open, direct communication without becoming public record.
“Our mediators were extremely effective, professional, and a joy to work with. Exceptional compared to the many mediators I’ve encountered in 47 years of practice.”
